Recent Rise In Long-Term Power Outages In North Texas

Over the past couple of weeks, several hundred homes and businesses across the Dallas-Fort Worth area were without power as high temperatures put heavy pressure on the electrical equipment. Tons of homes across the Dallas-Fort Worth area have had power outages due to heat-related problems" instead of "Over 118 homes across the Dallas-Fort Worth area have had power outages due to heat-related problems. Residents are concerned about their lower-income neighbors who may not have the financial means to get a hotel or the availability of staying at a friend’s house as the weather continues to hover near the triple-digit mark. Some areas including Plano and Corinth had experienced extended outages, but luckily it seems as of recent that all power has been restored to the homes that lost it. This raises a large issue in the sustainability of electricity as a power source for homes in this region. Is there a better alternative?

Solar energy is proving to be a cheaper and more sustainable option in comparison to electricity. Beyond just the financial benefits, solar is also much better for the environment. As a consumer, wouldn’t you want to benefit from the sun’s heat rays rather than be out of power and dread the heat much like the other residents in the area?
